I was a long time supporter of FARRM because I loved what they represented. True compassion for all animals. I am a life long animal lover and loved the opportunity to just learn about how resilient, loving and full of personality farm animal are. The more I went out the more I discovered how good for my mental health it was. It really helped me feel grounded and step away from what was a very high stress lifestyle in the city. Being out there, it is easy to be entirely present. Visiting often as a supporter lead me to decide to start volunteering out there. The animals all have their own personalities and it’s a pleasure to earn their trust and companionship the more they get to know you.

As life has had highs and lows over the years, being involved at Farrm has been a truly rewarding experience. From shoveling copious amounts of poop, learning the backgrounds and stories of the animals, transporting pigs, getting dirty, taking bomb selfies, and making new friends of all species, I’m grateful that I found Farrm and for all the stories and memories I get to treasure.

In the Spring of 2017, a friend of mine brought me to FARRM to volunteer. I returned to volunteer through the summer months and by November 2017 I was 100% vegan. A year later, I owned and operated a vegan cafe for 5 years. I continue to volunteer with FARRM as a volunteer fundraiser, and I know I will always be on this path of kindness and compassion for all species. My experience with FARRM has truly been life changing for myself and how I live my life.

We started following and supporting after stumbling across a little goat named Millie. We ended up becoming volunteers for the special needs animals. FARRM and all its creatures big and small, end up giving your soul so much more than you could ever hope to give them.

Peace, love, acceptance, and so much laughter. FARRM will always be a very precious piece of our lives.

I don’t recall exactly how or when FARRM showed up in my social media feed. Years ago, for sure. The cutest goat to ever live caught my attention. He was adorable, a bit rude and a lot mischievous. Of course, I’m talking about Cooper! Through him I started to learn about this animal rescue/sanctuary and all the animals who called this place home. I bought Cooper merch and faithfully followed the page. Years later, I signed up for “Goat Yoga” being held at FARRM! It was amazing, but I wasn’t really there for the yoga. I’m city born and raised so meeting all the animals, for me, was incredible. And then it happened. I got to meet Cooper in REAL LIFE! I felt like I was meeting a celebrity! He, being Cooper, was very “meh” about meeting me, especially once he saw that I didn’t have anything to feed him. (At a later visit, the volunteers let me feed him some bananas and he was my bestie for the 2.7 minutes it took him to scarf down the bananas - but I took whatever I could get from that beautiful boy!) I’ve been to FARRM many times since then and have brought out all the animal lovers I know to experience this amazing place. Through the events and tours, I’ve learned more about Melissa and the volunteers and what fantastic, generous, and hard-working people they are. I am honoured to support FARRM in any way I can and am so grateful to the entire team for the work they do, the life they provide these beautiful animals, and the joy they bring to the community.

I’d been following farrm on social media since around 2014 or so when i was still living in red deer working at a dog daycare. It was only durring covid after i moved up to edmonton when i had the chance to go on one of their tours with a bunch of other animal rights activists when i discovered the true magic of this place Melissa built for these animals that I now consider some of my best friends. Shortly after the tour i signed up to volunteer and have been carpooling out to help on site ever since.

Its so nice working with likeminded people and its remarkable watching disabled baby sheep, goats, etc undergo physiotherapy and grow up to become their best selves in an environment where they don't have to censor their personalities around humans because they know us as safe and compassionate in this world that tends to commodify, abuse, and neglect these sorts of animals.

I stumbled across FARRM after being involved in animal rescue and looking for something that was caring for the animals I knew often got overlooked. I couldn’t have found a place that better cares for that void. One of the first animals I met was Nakasha, and she represented exactly the type of animal I knew didn’t normally get a second chance. That was back in 2017 and I have loved every minute of helping and supporting this organization!

My mom had followed FARRM on social media for years and always wanted to take me on one of their tours. We finally visited in September, and it was such an incredible experience. Hearing the stories behind each of the animals and learning how Melissa opened her home and heart to give them a second chance was truly inspiring.

When January came around and we saw they were looking for volunteers, we decided to give it a try. It’s one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

Over the years, FARRM has become so much more than a place to volunteer. It’s become a second home and a family I never knew I needed. Watching the animals grow, heal, and thrive has been an absolute privilege, and every visit reminds me why this place is so special.

I’ve also met so many amazing people through the FARRM community—people who share the same passion for helping animals and supporting one another. I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships, memories, and experiences we’ve gained.

If you’ve ever thought about visiting, taking a tour, or volunteering, I can’t recommend FARRM enough. The love, dedication, and care that goes into this sanctuary is something you truly have to experience for yourself.

I first discovered FARRM years ago through their animals and their stories — especially a very special goat named Cooper, or “Toops,” whose antics always made me laugh. At a time in my life when I really needed something positive, following FARRM gave me something to look forward to and a little bit of hope.

I finally visited FARRM in 2018 with a big box of “nanners” for Toops, and that visit made my connection with FARRM even stronger.

What makes FARRM so special to me is the belief that every animal deserves compassion and a chance. They take in animals who have been neglected, injured or given up on and give them care, comfort and love — even when they know they may not get the happy ending everyone hopes for. They still give them that chance.

Over the years, I went from being a supporter to becoming a volunteer, and being part of FARRM has given me a real sense of purpose.

To me, FARRM represents hope, second chances and believing in the underdog — and I’m very proud to be part of it.

Memories, I loved volunteering with you, from mucking out pens, helping with events including fundraisers in the city, driving critters back home from the vet and visiting. Visiting Farrm was such a beautiful experience. The love and commitment they have for the animals shows in their quality of life and how each one thrives in it's own way! It has been almost a year since I became a sponsor with FARRM. Both of my parents grew up in the country and loved all of the animals that called their family farms home. On the 10th anniversary of my Dad's passing, I decided to do something special in his honor. I became the sponsor for Frank, the senior cat. And since then, I have added four more critters to my sponsorship collection: Eclipse the three-legged goat, Dash the special needs lamb, and Marie and Lavi the chickens. The memory of my parents is alive and well in my heart every single day, but being a sponsor in memory of my wonderful Mom and Dad is a special way to do something for animals that I know they would have loved so much. Getting to meet my my sponsored animals for the first time was such a special day! Through the excellent sponsorship communication from the fine folks at FARRM, sponsors are kept up to date on how our animals are doing, photos and videos, so we get to know them before we even meet them. I fell in love with my five before I saw them in person, but it was incredible to be able to snuggle them, love on them and to get to see the phenomenal care that all of the residents at FARRM receive. The kind human souls that operate and volunteer at the farm are really special people. I don't have the capacity to be able to be hands on day in day out, but to be able to provide a bit of financial support to help care for the animals is so rewarding. It makes me feel good to know that my parents legacy is helping care for these incredible animals.
