Hello! I'm Ernie!

Pet Pleasures:  When Sesame Street has special guests.

Pet Peeves:  Cigarette Smoke.

Arrived at FARRM:  2023

Sex:  Male

Age:  2023

About: â€‹ Ernie came to us as a baby from a working farm that we receive many severely neglected and sick sheep from. The agricultural animal laws in Alberta are very bleak; agricultural animals are entitled to food, water, shelter, and not much else. Despite our attempts to report this working farm that we receive many sick and dying sheep from, the animal laws in Alberta deem them to be following procedures; culling or surrendering the sick and dying sheep.

Ernie arrived very tiny, sick and malnourished, as he was set to be culled. Many farmers err on the side of culling straight away, rather than seeing a vet, as culling is deemed more cost effective and efficient. Thankfully, a concerned citizen stepped in and did as much as they could to help facilitate rescue.

Like many of the sheep that arrive from this working farm, Ernie had an awful case of Coccidiosis which many agricultural animals contract when they are babies in mostly unhygienic environments. Cocci attacks the intestinal tract resulting in diarrhea, abdominal pain, severe illness, and even death. Ernie also had a horrible case of pneumonia and was no longer growing.

Ernie was provided medical attention accordingly and is now a happy and healthy resident! Many, if not all, of the severely sick and dying agricultural animals we get simply needed basic medical attention to improve.

Ernie is a sweet, introverted boy who is starting to come out of his shell! He is kind, soft, and playful. Ernie spends his days with his best friend in the world Eli bugging their Uncle Eugene, running with the herd, and lounging in the sun with his family.
