About: â€‹ Henry Dean Martin was used by an Alberta college's rodeo team to practice roping skills on. The rodeo team used Henry for practice roping, and had roped one of his legs and snapped it in two. Henry was left in a barn stall with this injury without care or treatment as he was no longer useful to the rodeo team. Henry's leg resulted in sepsis, which is a body's reaction to an extreme infection that can lead to organ failure, tissue damage, and death. Eventually, Henry was brought to the vet for him to be euthanized. The vet agreed to help Henry by amputating his leg and start providing immediate medical intervention for the infection, and reached out to FARRM to see if we would be willing to provide Henry a forever home free from harm. Of course we welcomed Henry with open arms and broken hearts after hearing his story. Once Henry arrived at FARRM, we provided extensive aftercare, physiotherapy to help Henry learn how to only have three legs instead of four, and lots of love, space, and time to heal.

Henry is a very shy boy who likes his space. He is not a big fan of people and we don't blame him. He is a sweetheart who is special and important. Henry is brave. Henry is resilient. Henry spends most of his days hanging out inside the barn away from the large, busy herd, lounging in the sunshine, and occasionally wrestling with his buddies. â€‹
