Hello! I'm Luna!

Pet Peeves:  Being underestimated!

Arrived at FARRM:  2024

Sex:  Female

Age:  2024

About:  Luna was surrendered when she was just a month old by her owner who ran a working farm. Luna was born with contracted tendons, meaning the tendons in her back legs are far too short. Due to the tendons in her back legs being so short, she was unable to bend and maneuver her legs to be able to use them. Although this was something Luna was born with, if she would have received medical intervention upon birth, the tendons in her legs could have been worked with and stretched out and she may have had a very different fate. For the first month of her life, Luna was left sedentary so she had no mobility on her own. One of her front legs atrophied and actually fixed itself into a permanent bent and deformed position from her laying down. Unfortunately, when Luna arrived at FARRM, most of the damage that had been done to her legs was irreversible.

After months of physiotherapy and strength building exercises, we are ecstatic to report that Luna's mobility has improved by over 80%!  Luna is able to get around on her own, throw herself up and down the stairs, and scream at the top of her lungs when she requires assistance. We are quite optimistic about what the future holds for our Luna. As she gets larger, Luna will likely need extra support to alleviate some of the strain of her body weight off her legs. This may look like leg braces or a wheelchair, or even some frequent bandaging to help support her tendons.

Aside from Luna's medical concerns, she is the current title holder of being FARRM's most spoiled resident. Due to her mobility issues and size, there is a large concern of Luna being trampled by the other residents if she were to reside with the herd. So for now, Luna lives in the house with the humans of FARRM, in her very own crib where she receives breakfast in bed every single morning. Luna is sassy, outspoken, and intelligent. Luna loves the sound of her own voice and loves when her screams are so loud that the humans wince even more! Luna loves sleeping in the big dog beds, being nosey, and dozing off in the sunshine.  She hates being left behind, eating anything but the freshest of produce, and the word no.
