About:  Spartacus came to us from a working farm that we receive many severely neglected and sick sheep from. The agricultural animal laws in Alberta are very bleak; agricultural animals are entitled to food, water, shelter, and not much else. Despite our attempts to report this working farm that we receive many sick and dying sheep from, the animal laws in Alberta deem them to be following procedures; culling the sick and dying sheep. Spartacus was born with loose ligaments and rather than seeing a vet, was set to be culled as a newborn lamb, as it is more cost effective and efficient for many farmers. Thankfully, a concerned citizen stepped in and did as much as they could to help facilitate rescue.

Most of the time when animals are born with loose ligaments, it can be addressed if given medical attention immediately. Loose ligaments are common in herds that have excessive inbreeding, insufficient nutrition, or poor genes. Although we received Spartacus as a young lamb, we were unable to fix his loose ligaments as the bones had already set. He quickly adjusted to walking on his front elbows and grew into a happy and healthy handsome young man. Because Sparty walks on his elbows with his hooves facing inwards, he does struggle with his mobility and has sore days. His soreness is managed with pain medication, bandages wrapped around his front legs for support, and lots of snacks and snuggles.

Spartacus is a beautiful, gentle soul. He is soft, kind, and deeply tender. Sparty is a loving companion to his partner Lucy, a wonderful uncle to his roommates Amelia and Eloise, and an affectionate sweetheart to the humans of FARRM. Deeply emotional, Sparty sulks inside on rainy days and lays in the grass soaking up the sunshine on warm summer days. He is intuitive, soft, and special.
